Intensive Group Process

3SP_0161.jpg

Adolescents respond to a positive peer culture, new experiences, and a nurturing environment. Paint Rock Valley provides all of this by surrounding the student with an intensive, group-oriented process of cognitive behavioral skill building.

The students live in groups of 10-12 with nurturing and supportive adult role models to guide them. Every activity is experienced and reflected upon in a way that can help the child to learn effective skills and gain insight into his or her own behavior. This intensive experience occurs in every activity and aspect of the student’s daily life. In this way, the students are living and breathing treatment every day. Your child will progress through a stage system that affords him or her more privileges, responsibilities, and opportunities as he or she learns the skills and insight necessary to handle blossoming maturity in a healthy and productive way.

Layered within this intensive experience are a variety of other means of helping the students to understand, evaluate, and change their behaviors and thought processes. These therapeutic services are planned with the assistance of parents and other helping professionals, such as the child’s home therapist or independent educational consultant.
