The program has a full-time nurse who attend to the students’ medical needs and assist them in learning skills necessary to be healthy as they grow into adults.
Each student must have a comprehensive physical upon admission to the program and periodically throughout their stay. Students also have access to a Nurse Practioner who comes to the program weekly. All program staff are certified in CPR and First Aid and many staff have other medical training, including training specific to medical needs in an outdoor environment. Staff attend to medical needs as they arise with an emphasis on helping the students to behave in responsible ways to promote their own good health.
